The Ambasciatori Palace Hotel, which became known as the Ambassadors' Palace at the turn of the century due to the numerous diplomats and businessmen among its patrons, in 1993 has celebrated its 90th birthday. Designed by Carlo Busiri Vici between 1900 and 1903, it was restored in 1993 to give back the look that Busiri Vici intended, using the existing decorations to their best advantage. All the plaster work of the cornices, the boxed ceilings, the capitals and the arches have been restored tu their former splendour: the Brazilian granite columns, the marble floorine with the multicoloured mosaic surround and the wrought iron handrail on the large central staircase
